POOP

LIVINGSTON, Mont. -- A 15-year-old girl has admitted trying to poison her father with tainted Jell-O.

The girl put lamp oil in the Jell-O, which she thought would give him diarrhea. Twice over a period of three days she tried to get her father to eat it.

The girl and her father had quarreled because he revoked her privileges for missing curfew.

A judge Monday placed her on probation until she turns 18.

OFA

August 22, 2009, 110 Michigan Street
Grand Rapids, MI 49503

and thousands of other locations.

tea-party people will be rallying against health care. i'm getting really upset about this. and apparently, OFA isn't doing shit about it. im going to email mary-alice from the campaign right now.

the republicans are organizing to the point that I didn't find out about it until one day before it happened. I don't like this. We need to get at least a dozen people who will PROtest for health care. It will probably be enough to compete with the last grand rapids "demonstration" i saw. Either way, we need to start organazing, outside of OFA.

More on Epilepsy

So, these dudes at Wesleyan University have decided that stem cells would be a cool way to cure epilepsy. The guy in charge says "It's relatively simple, but, of course, in practice, it's not easy to do." Duh. Anyways, here's what they want to do. They want to take people who have my surgery, and allow the doctor's to take out the "important" parts of the brain, not just gray matter, meanwhile growing neurons in test-tubes that work right. Basically, you'd have to grow a section of a brain that works, and then put it inside of a hole in someone's head. Some "cure". A - They'd still have to have the surgery. B - I'm down with stem cells, but I'm not sure I want scientists growing BRAINS in laboratories. Brains can think. That's kind of inhumane. Grow some livers, grow some lungs... so I can drink and smoke :) but leave neurons alone. That's just cruel. Also, they might revolt.

Also, in epilepsy news:

I hadn't noticed it on my bottle, but the FDA required last December that 11 epilepsy medicines add a warning on the label regarding the risk of suicide. This came after a review found an 80 percent increase in suicidal thoughts among those taking the pills

RELAPSE

after more research, it seems pretty standard that 2/3 people who "successfully" undergo the surgery that i'm going to have start having seizures again within the first two years after the surgery.

Odds of relapse decrease the younger you are, and if the tissue being removed is damaged. Fortunately, I fall into these categories.

After the first two years, there is conflicting data. most studies show that the remaining 1/3rd have about a 80%-90% chance of making it to 10 years. Past ten years, there is literally no data, which is a problem that is a widespread admitted travesty within the neurological community. Everyone's too busy pumping money into research for lame stuff like ADHD... >:-( I'm serious. There is not one long term study.

So who knows? Maybe my brain will explode in 2020!!!!
